Goals and tasks

The 5 pillars

Integration of protection and use

Nature parks are rural regions that take up the great challenge of integrating protection and use and serve as an instrument for sustainable, integrative regional development. They enable the tasks of nature conservation, research, education, recreation and regional development to coexist on an equal footing. In order to implement the goals and tasks, the Tiroler Lech Nature Park serves 5 pillars:
  • Nature conservation

Nature parks are valuable natural and cultural landscapes. The wild river landscape on the Tyrolean Lech is the only one of its kind in the Northern Alps. It is home to many rare and protected animals and plants. Their protection and conservation are the central tasks of the Tiroler Lech Nature Park.

    01

  • Recreation

The natural idyll of the Tyrolean Lech invites you to relax, linger and experience. The landscape worthy of protection can be experienced through adventure paths, theme trails, viewing platforms, bird watching huts and much more.

    02

  • Environmental education

"You only protect what you know"

That is why environmental education is a special concern of the Tiroler Lech Nature Park. Nature and culture topics are the content of excursions, workshops and school programmes. At public events, the nature park is represented with interactive programmes on environmental education.

    03

  • Regional development

Nature is our capital. Important impulses go from the Tiroler Lech Nature Park to the Lechtal-Reutte Nature Park region. One example of this is the nature park partner businesses. These are accommodation businesses that are supported by the nature park in their concerns.

    04

  • Research

There are only very few wild river landscapes left in Europe. Research in the Tyrolean Lech Nature Park provides important insights into the ecological relationships and helps to protect and preserve this habitat.
