Gold for the Lech Valley - The Tyrolean Lech Nature Park is an Important Bird Area

For bird lovers, the Tiroler Lech Nature Park is one of the top addresses in Tyrol. Of about 150 native breeding bird species in Tyrol, about 110 find their characteristic habitats at the Tiroler Lech . Species from different biogeographical regions meet here and reach the edge of their range here. Examples are the White-backed Woodpecker and the Pygmy Fly catcher from the east and the Mountain Blue Warbler from the west.

Austria-wide important populations of the Goosander (ca. 10 %), Sandpiper (ca. 10 %), Little Ringed P lover (5 %), Mountain Blue Warbler (2 - 3 %) together with some special features of the mountain forest, valley rocks and the alpine zone such as Golden Eagle, Peregrine Falcon, Hazel Grouse, Black Grouse, Woodcock, Eurasian Pygmy Owl, Tengmalm's Owl, Eagle Owl, Grey Woodpecker, White-backed Woodpecker, Three-toed Wood pecker, Lesser Spotted Flycatcher and Citrine Flycatcher make the Tyrolean Lech Valley an Important Bird Area.
