Trockenauwald

A dry snow heath pine forest develops on bank terraces. It is one of the most species-rich and colourful forest types in Central Europe. Rare orchids such as the fly orchid can be found here. The seeds of mountain plants are transported into the Lech via the side streams with the meltwater. The climate of the Kiefernau is very similar to that of the mountain peaks - dryness, wind, high UV radiation, extreme heat in summer and severe cold in winter characterise both habitats. The seeds of these so-called alpine alluvial plants sprout and so you can find the silverroot, the stemless gentian or the auricula on the Lech.

Typical dry meadow species are

Pine
Fly agaric
Silverroot
