Trockenauwald

A dry snow heath pine forest develops on riparian terraces. It is one of the most species-rich and colorful forest types in Central Europe. Rare orchids such as the fly agaric can be found here. Seeds of mountain plants are transported with the melt water via the side streams into the Lech. The climate of the Kiefernau is very similar to that of the mountain peaks - drought, wind, high UV radiation, great heat in summer and severe cold in winter characterize both habitats. The seeds of these so-called alpine alluvial plants sprout and thus one can find the silverroot, the stemless gentian or the auricula on the Lech.

Typical species of the dry meadow are

Pine
Fly agaric
Silverroot
Grey alder
