Another orchid species found in the Tiroler Lech Nature Park is the Large bifolium (Listera ovata). It grows to a height of 20 - 50 cm. The orchid has two opposite, egg-shaped leaves at the lower end of the stem. The inconspicuous 20 - 40 flowers are grouped together in a raceme. The lower flowers of the raceme bloom first and only gradually do the flowers above them bloom. This means that the seeds in the lowest seed capsules are already ripe when the uppermost flowers begin to bloom. Pollination is mainly carried out by wasps.
The greater twig-leaf orchid is mainly found in forests, on semi-arid grasslands, in damp meadows and in fens. This orchid is also a fully protected plant species according to the Tyrolean Nature Conservation Ordinance 2006.
