3. Softwood Floodplains

In the lower reaches from Reutte onwards there are primarily softwood floodplains. Next to willows there are in particular grey alders. Because of the flat terrain, but also because of river linings, there are some less wild river sections. During floods in particular sand and fine earth are washed up. This makes for good conditions for grey alder forests. Grey alder floodplains are seriously endangered habitats.
