Riparian Forests

Extensive belts of riparian forests line the Lech. They are all very different from each other and are classified as field-tamarisk-shrubbery, dry riparian forests and softwood plains.
 
These different types of floodplain forests have one thing in common: They rely on flooding to bring new sediment and nutrient matter.
