Oberrhät Limestone

The Oberrhät limestone is difficult to find on the gravel banks of the Lech river, since it is difficult to tell from the Wetterstein formations. It emerged from sea deposits between the Trias and Jura Age. At that time the living conditions in the sea improved and large coral reefs formed.
Oberräth limestone emerged from such coral deposits, which is very popular among climbers because of its few layers and its stability.
